2ND ANNUAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL June 29, 2006
53 of the Best Short Films From Around the World
to Be Showcased at Cinespace in Hollywood
Joseph's Cafe to Host Opening Night Reception
Hollywood—-The organizers of HollyShorts, Short Film Festival (www.hollyshorts.com) announced today the line up of the short films that will be showcased at the 2nd annual event. Joseph’s CafĂ© in Hollywood will host this year’s opening night reception on August 11. The short film screenings will take place August 12 and 13 at Cinespace: Digital Super Club and Lounge in Hollywood. 13 countries will be represented as 53 of the best and brightest short will be screened.
“We had a great turnout of submissions for this year’s event and our panel of judges carefully selected the most creative, original and thought provoking short films from around the world,” said Daniel Sol, Producer and Co-Founder of HollyShorts, Short Film Festival.
HollyShorts ‘06’ official opening film is “Round 5,” an action-packed short from Illegal Artists, a directing duo out of Mexico City, comprising of siblings Javier and Jorge Aguilera . Jorge and Javier have been confirmed to direct the live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime “Kite” for producers Rob Cohen and Anant Singh. The closing short for this year’s festival is the Oscar nominated short film “Ausreisser (The Runaway),” Directed by Ulrike Gote of Germany. Cinespace is located at l6356 Hollywood Blvd. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase beginning July 31, 2006.

Cinespace Short Mondays in Hollywood features an assortment of really great short films. On June 5, an acclaimed short "Shoot-Out" along with 5 other shorts will be showcased. If you are in LA and want to network with HollyShorts and see some great shorts, you are invited to come check it out.

HOLLYWOOD, CA January 24, 2006----The organizers of HollyShorts, Short Film Festival announced today that the 2nd annual event will take place at the world renowned Cinespace: Digital Super Club and Lounge in Hollywood, August 11-13, 2006. The announcement was made by Daniel Sol, Producer and Co-Founder of HollyShorts, Short Film Festival.
"Cinespace is the perfect fit for our 2nd annual event and we look forward to once again showcasing the best and brightest short films from around the globe August 11-13," said Sol in making the announcement. "On the heels of the success of our inaugural event last August, we are eager to continue celebrating true, independent short films."
The 2006 HollyShorts Short Film Festival will showcase short films 30 minutes or less, thought provoking panels and music performances. Last year’s event showcased 23 short films from Poland, Thailand, Canada, India and the US, drawing standing room crowds at each of the screenings.

Samsung Electronics today announced the opening of a new web site "AnyFilms.net" offering a series of unique short films for mobile and internet users.The site features a short film series which can be viewed online as well as downloaded to certain Samsung mobile phones that support video playback. The films are composed of two stories directed by young, ambitious Hollywood film directors. The executive producer of the films is Jon Kilik, whose film "Broken Flowers" recently won the Grand Prix at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. "Across the Hall", directed by Alex Merkin, is a two-part story about a man trying to prevent his friend from doing something rash with his fiance, who he believes is cheating on him. "GiGi", directed by Mark Dippe, is about a sheepish guy who improves his social skills through the aid of a mysterious phone with an alluring female voice.
